Writer's picture: Hunter TurnerHunter Turner

After successfully planning the resources for your project comes actually obtaining them. Project procurement management is the facet of project management that deals with this collection of resources. Similar to previously covered processes of project management, procurement can be split into three key actions - planning, conducting, and controlling, with closing your accounts upon conclusion of the project.

Beyond the main processes of procurement management, the project manager can take further action to contribute towards a smooth procurement of resources. Actions include coordinating stakeholders and your team, communicating with vendors throughout the planning phase, and effectively assigning responsibilities between team members while updating the team as a whole. Each processes you take action on smooths the each cog in the machine of your process going forward. Procuring the right resources leads to projects going closer to plan with influences your final delivery status. Although project procurement may sound ridiculous, it is an integral part of the machine that produces a product both your team and your stakeholders can be proud of. As a project manager it is your duty to smooth the cogs of this machine!
